Indian Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is a document that is issued by Consulate or High Commission stating no adverse information related to person applying for it, is recorded within Indian Police records. PCC is a passport service and have separate processes for Indian and Foreign Nationals. 

Indian PCC is issued with purpose of following:

• Citizenship / Nationality Application
• Education / Research
• Employment/ Employment visa / Work permit
• Immigration Purposes other than Citizenship
• Long term Visa / Stay
• Residence Permit
• Tourist Visa
• Adoption
• Other (Please specify)

While applying (Indian Nationals) need to submit original passport to the Consulate and will be retained throughout the process. If you are planning to travel, then plan accordingly. 

For Foreign Nationals, they need to submit Copy of their passport (JP Attested) along with the application, and is subject to Pre-approval from Consulate / High Commission and is subject to clearance/verification from concerned authorities.
